Main Synagogue of Bukovina

0 1 0

Here everyone could learn the centuries-old history of the Jewish people and discover the world of Judaism. In addition, the Kornshill Synagogue is a unique case of a synagogue that continued its services even during the Second World War. However, in the post-war years, the synagogue was abolished and was used for other purposes. The authentic façade and exterior of the building have been changed, and the synagogue's layout has changed.

In 2004, the Bukovina Jewish Religious Community was founded, which actively raised the issue of returning the building of the main synagogue to the hands of the community. And with the solution of all bureaucratic issues, in 2007 the Kornshill synagogue was returned to the community. With the assistance of US charitable foundations and philanthropists, the restored synagogue was opened in 2011. Today the Main Synagogue of Bukovina is the spiritual center of the Jewish Diaspora in Chernivtsi.
