Located 4 km south of the center Kanev. The total area of protected areas - 2,500 hectares. The reserve includes 8 cultural heritage sites. Museum collection includes more than 20,000 unique attractions with ornaments and belongings of Taras Shevchenko, rare editions of his works, highly artistic works of Ukrainian and foreign artists, masterpieces of folk art, valuable archival documents, photo - and film footage, audio and videos of famous bandura players and Shevchenko. There is a scientific library fund is formed from a collection of 23 thousand books. National and regional conferences with prominent figures of science and culture, international festivals and competitions are organized in the reserve. Also, the reserve hosts the museum "Tarasova room."
