The museum collection was created in 1918-1919 and further supplemented by works from private collections of ruined estates, as well as through purchase or gifts of the citizens.
Collection presented by the Pototskyi magnates family represents the works of famous European artists from XVIII-XIX centuries. A special place in the portraits collection of these representatives are generations of noble princes and noble families of Saltykov, Stroganoff, Shcherbatova.
