Museum of Archeology of the National Reserve "Glukhiv"

0 2 0

The museum of archeology in Glukhiv is located in the restored Kochubei estate and opened the doors to visitors on November 6, 2008. The date is not accidental and has great significance for the city – this day, the 300th anniversary of Glukhiv's proclamation as the capital of the hetmanate and left-bank Ukraine was celebrated.

The exhibits of the museum are of special scientific value, as they demonstrate the history of the Desna and Seym interfluve, the Sumy region, which historians still know very little about.

The exposition is represented by implements of labor, ceramics, dishes, fragments of clothing that were found during excavations in the city and its environs. All of them are placed in three halls, each of which is dedicated to a separate epoch:

- Hall of ancient history will take you thousands of years ago, to the Paleolithic;

- Hall of the Old Russian era will tell about the history of Glukhiv from the tenth century and until the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania;

- Hall of the late Middle Ages, acquaints with Glukhiv as the capital of the Hetmanate.

No less interesting is the fourth hall, dedicated to the construction business in Glukhiv.

And for you to get acquainted not only with the history, but also with the modern life of the city, the staff will organize an excursion for you.
