In 1964 Bolekhiv library opened local history room, and after six years the museum became Peoples museum. Museum exhibits gained publicity and popularity, as evidenced by new unique showpieced donated fot the exhibition: pieces of handwritten prayer books of XVII century from an ancient monastery and church near village Dovzhky, pictures of Bolekhiv from the famous Ukrainian sculptor Mykhailo Chereshnovsky (1939-1944) and Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky (1909).
