The only Catholic church in Zaporizhzhia was closed as far back as the 1930s. In the 50's the building of the temple was destroyed, and replaced by a factory. The construction of a new church has begun in 1999. On August 7, 2004, the long-awaited consecration of the temple of God the Father of Mercy took place. On the altar wall of the temple, with its size and impressive power, stands the icon of God the Father. On the icon, God the Father is depicted without a beard, which expresses the truth of the belief that God never grow old. Attributes of power, crown, scepter, God the Father laid down at His feet. With his left hand at his breast God clutches the globe, and with it - all mankind, all of His children. The right hand of God blesses all.
