The Great Synagogue in Dubno

0 3 0

Construction of the Synagogue lasted for more than 12 years, and Prince Lubomirski contributed to its completion, as evidenced by the thanksgiving sign above its entrance door.

The synagogue was built in the Baroque style. The building is perfectly preserved thanks to two reconstructions in 18th and 19th centuries. From the first day of the synagogue's foundation, the best compositions of the Jewish liturgy were heard in it, and it also had a well-known children's choir.

The thickness of the synagogue walls provided an opportunity to perform a defensive function when it was necessary. After the First World War, the wooden floor was replaced with solid concrete slabs and updated the Synagogue’s general appearance.

Since 1993 the building officially belongs to the historical and cultural heritage of Dubno.

It is a part of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve of Dubno.

Currently, the synagogue is inactive.

The synagogue was built in 1784.
