About the location

The museum was opened in honor of memorable battles in the village of Sokolov, where during the Second World War Czechoslovak volunteers first fought against the Nazi troops.

The museum's main exposition is devoted to the events of March 1943, when the Czechoslovak battalion, under the command of Lt. Col. Ludwika Svoboda, along with Soviet soldiers, held defenses on the river Mzha in order to slow down the advance of the Nazi troops to Kharkiv.
