Chyhyryn

Місто є однією з козацьких столиць. Такий статус Чигирин мав з 1648 по 1676 роки. Саме за часів Хмельницького місто мало надважливе значення і було одним з найбільшим у тогочасній Україні.

About Chyhyryn

The city is located in the Dnipro Upland on both banks of the river Tyasmyn. This city, which was actually the first capital of Ukraine, is actively becoming one of the major tourist centers of Cherkasy region.The first written mention dates from 1582 Chyhyryn year - this year the city was granted a Magdeburg Law. And seven years later, on the orders of King Sigismund III, a castle was built on the Chyhyryn high sandstone hill (now Castle Hill).
