About the location

An exquisite example of the Cossack Baroque, the Ascension Monastery, was erected in 1695-1700 by means of Hetman Ivan Mazepa.

The majestic Voznesensky Cathedral is considered to be an example of Ukrainian national architecture because of its complex construction and rich baroque stucco. On the monastery territory there is a two-storeyed building of the former monastic school and hostel of the bursaks. In 1776 a three-tiered bell tower with a height of 48 m was built.

The cathedral is not operational, it has a museum-diorama "Battle for the Dnieper".
